Apple Mac mini MC408LL/A Snow Leopard Server Review

Apple Mac mini MC408LL/A Snow Leopard Server

Recently my husband and i are obtaining Apple Mac mini MC408LL/A Snow Leopard Server following almost a year reading thousand of others' review and opinion. Finally we get it from Amazon.com having a discount cost. Our new Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server has just been fantastic. We already have about 100 of them running here at Macminicolo as production servers and they've performed great.

We would like to share a few word of comments about this magnificient Apple Mac mini MC408LL/A Snow Leopard Server hardware:

- In this machines you could have two 500GB drives. By default, they're two separate drives. When you configure on startup, the default prompt would be to have your services running on the drive called "Server HD" plus the backups go to the drive "Macintosh HD2." Needless to say you are able to change this to even so you want, but that may be the default.

- It is possible to also put the two drives in RAID 1 or RAID 0. To do this, you will will need to boot from the restore disc that happens using the machine. Since there is no optical drive about the Macmini, you will either have to have to use the Remote Disk feature and take benefit of a Mac or PC drive for the network. (This functions fantastic) Or you'll be able to purchase the SuperDrive for MacBook Air which plugs into the USB drive on the Mac mini and performs fine. Personally, I'm not a fan of RAID, but I know others are.

- This machines can come with 4GB of RAM, which is much more than sufficient for most points. It is possible to also upgrade to 8GB of RAM if you'd like to crack it open. This isn't "officially" supported by Apple, but functions well.

- Like all other Mac minis prior to it, this equipment is almost silent. It is amazing in that sense. It also runs cooler given that the optical drive is what produced most of the heat inside the last ones.

- For connectivity, you could have a FW800 and 5 USB. For a display, you'll be able to use mini DisplayPort or mini DVI. (There is certainly a mini-DVI to DVI converter that arrives from the box.) And naturally, the machine will also run headless without any issue at all.

We would like to share a couple of the Apple Mac mini MC408LL/A Snow Leopard Server hardware info:

- This device happens using a license of Unlimited Client Snow Leopard Server. That's a amazing deal considering it's $499 if purchased on it's own. This can be a full copy with no limitation. You'll have the blue card while using serial inside your packet.

-The device will also run Snow Leopard just fine if you'd rather install it on this machines and use your Snow Leopard Server license somewhere else.

- For the first time on these Mac minis, Applecare also covers basic setup of Snow Leopard Server. (This is a separate, high priced alternative when getting an Xserve.) You are able to call AppleCare and they'll support you configure your server. Quite helpful Apple Mac mini MC408LL/A Snow Leopard Server.

  1. I recently purchased a Apple MacBook Pro 17" online. It costs me $2299 plus shipping. If thr unit should have an issue over the next few years I want to be fully covered so I will be purchasing the Consumer Priority Service extended warranty as well. The online dealer offers a 2 year or a 3 year for about $100 more, Is it worth the extra money for the 3 year warranty?
